> Sessions with buffer time, a skate-hire kiosk that allocates a pair into a locker, asset tags and bundles, and session reports. Ice rink ticketing and lockers.

Canonical page: https://venueora.com/industries/ice-rinks

VenueOra sells ice rink sessions with capacity and buffer time, runs skate hire from a kiosk that allocates a pair into a locker, and moves bookings between sessions. Already live for ice rinks, with LockVault, our smart-locker service, on the lockers.

## A day at your venue

1. Book a skate session: The skater picks a session on their phone. Each session has its own capacity and buffer time before and after, so the ice clears between sessions. The ticket lands in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet with a QR code.
2. Scan at the barrier: Staff scan the QR code on a phone or the skater scans at a kiosk. A ticket already used is rejected, and reception mode shows the current session with search by guest, order or ticket.
3. Collect skates at the kiosk: At the skate-hire kiosk the skater scans their ticket, picks a size and is allocated a pair. The pair is tagged, held in a bundle and tied to a locker, so the kit and the locker stay together.
4. Lock up shoes and coat: Shoes and coat go in the locker the kiosk allocated, opened by PIN or NFC. Staff can release or emergency-unlock it, and scanning a skate tag shows who has the pair and which locker it belongs in.
5. Move a late booking: A family that misses the two o’clock session is moved to three o’clock from the order, on the whole booking or on individual tickets, and the confirmation is resent by email or SMS.
6. Read the session report: Session reports show bookings and attendance per session. Sales, VAT, year-on-year and daily capacity reports cover the day, and the café till from Posso UK is a separate system on which VenueOra provides payment processing.

## What the venue runs on

- Sessions with buffer time (Timed entry, https://venueora.com/timed-entry-ticketing): Public sessions, disco nights and learn-to-skate slots run as sessions on a calendar, each with its own capacity and buffer time before and after. Bookings sit on the same order record as tickets, and move between sessions from the order.
- Skate-hire kiosk and lockers (Smart lockers, https://venueora.com/smart-lockers): The skate-hire kiosk scans a ticket, takes a size and allocates a pair into a locker. Lockers open by PIN or NFC and are managed by colour, side and number. LockVault, our smart-locker service, supplies the hardware on revenue share.
- Asset tags and bundles (Ticket scanning, https://venueora.com/ticket-scanning): Skates carry QR or NFC tags, grouped by size and type and held in bundles. Scan a tag to see who has it, which locker it belongs in and whether it is already out.
- Reports and refunds (Payments, https://venueora.com/payments): Session reports plus sales, VAT, year-on-year and daily capacity reports. Refunds, cancelled tickets and reissued tickets run from the order, with card, Apple Pay and Google Pay online and on the kiosk, and payouts after merchant verification.
- Café tills via Posso UK (ePOS and kitchen display, https://venueora.com/epos): ePOS tills and kitchen display for the café are supplied, installed, trained and supported by Posso UK, our hardware and installation partner. VenueOra provides payment processing on the Posso platform; the till is separate from the session record.

## Outcomes

- Sessions that fill, not overfill: Capacity per session and buffer time between them sell from one record online and at the kiosk. A busy Saturday disco sells to its limit and stops, and the next session takes the people who missed it.
- Skates that come back: Every pair is tagged and tied to a locker session, so a scan shows who has it and where it belongs. The kiosk allocates the pair, and the kit and the locker stay on the same record.
- Lockers off the capital budget: LockVault funds, installs, runs and maintains the lockers and pays the rink a share of gross rental revenue, with an itemised statement on the 1st of each month and payout by the 15th.

## Session, skates and locker on one skater record

A rink sells time and kit, not only a headcount. VenueOra puts the session, the skate hire and the locker on one record, with the kiosk doing the allocation, and is already live for ice rinks. LockVault runs the lockers.

- Built for wet floors: LockVault doors are sealed and rated for splash zones, with an electromagnetic latch and a reinforced steel door. Every bank is monitored 24/7, and LockVault handles support, refunds and maintenance.
- Bundles for a family: Bundles group assets such as a pair of skates or a family pack, and a reservation links the bundle to a locker session, event, ticket or basket. The desk sees in one place what a booking has out.
- No mains, no Wi-Fi needed: LockVault lockers carry their own power and connection, so most sites need no mains or Wi-Fi from the rink. Fitted banks run from 24 to 240 lockers and are sized to the session capacity.
- Hire in under 30 seconds: A skater taps a card at LockVault’s touchscreen kiosk and has a locker in under 30 seconds, or pre-books by phone with a QR code on arrival. Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted.

## Facts

- £0: Upfront cost to the rink for LockVault lockers
- Under 30 seconds: To hire a locker by tapping a card at the kiosk
- 24 to 240: Lockers per fitted LockVault bank

## Questions

Q: Can we sell skate sessions with a cap on numbers?
A: Yes, each session has its own capacity and buffer time before and after, counted across online sales and the kiosk from the same session record. When a session reaches its capacity it stops selling and the next one takes over. Disco nights, public sessions and learn-to-skate slots can each carry different capacity and prices on the calendar. Tickets arrive by email and in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet with a QR code and are scanned at the barrier.

Q: How does skate hire work with the session ticket?
A: The skater scans their ticket at the skate-hire kiosk, picks a size and is allocated a pair. Each pair carries a QR or NFC tag, sits in a size and type category and is held in a bundle, and a reservation links it to a locker session, the event, the ticket or the basket. Scanning a tag shows who has it, which locker it belongs in and whether it is already out, so the kit and the locker stay together.

Q: How do ice rink ticketing and lockers work together?
A: The session ticket, the skate allocation and the locker sit on one record. The kiosk allocates the pair into a locker, the skater opens it by PIN or NFC, and staff can assign, release or emergency-unlock a locker from the dashboard and see usage analytics. LockVault, our smart-locker service, supplies and runs the locker hardware on revenue share, and it runs on VenueOra’s own locker management. The same engine is already live for ice rinks.

Q: Are the lockers suitable for a wet rink side?
A: Yes, LockVault doors are sealed and rated for splash zones, with an electromagnetic latch and a reinforced steel door. Four sizes from mini to large take shoes, coats and bags, and charging variants hold and charge a phone over USB-C, USB-A or a Qi pad. The lockers are monitored 24/7, and LockVault handles support, refunds, maintenance, software updates and insurance.

Q: What do the lockers cost the rink?
A: Nothing upfront and nothing to operate. LockVault funds, installs, powers, connects, runs and maintains the lockers. The rink receives a share of gross rental revenue, with the split agreed after a site survey, an itemised statement on the 1st of each month and payout by the 15th. A proposal follows within 48 hours of an enquiry.

Q: Can we move a booking to another session?
A: Yes, a booking moves between sessions from the order, either the whole booking or individual tickets within it, and the confirmation is resent by email or SMS. Refunds, cancelled tickets and reissued tickets run from the same order screen. Session reports then show the bookings and attendance for each session as they stand, alongside the sales, VAT, year-on-year and daily capacity reports.
