# Unified payments for venues, festivals and arenas

> Unified payments for venues: tickets, memberships, lockers and kiosk sales on one order record, online and on terminals, with refunds and payouts in one place.

Canonical page: https://venueora.com/payments

VenueOra provides unified payments for venues: Apple Pay, Google Pay and card online and on kiosks, card-present payments on terminals, and tickets, memberships, lockers and kiosk sales on one order record. Refunds, partial cancellations and payouts sit in the same dashboard.

## How it works

1. Take payment at checkout: Guests and members pay by Apple Pay, Google Pay or card on your branded checkout. Every ticket, membership payment, locker and kiosk sale is written to an order with the guest's details.
2. Take payment on site: On a self-serve kiosk, guests pay by Apple Pay, Google Pay or card-present. From any order, staff take payment on a registered card terminal, and the dashboard polls the terminal until the payment is confirmed.
3. Card data stays off your hardware: Card payments across the group run through a PCI DSS Level 1 acquiring partner. Card data never touches your tills, kiosks or lockers, and it does not touch VenueOra-hosted code either.
4. Refund, report and get paid: Refund an order or cancel individual tickets on it. Reports cover sales, VAT, year-on-year comparison and daily capacity. After merchant verification, the payouts dashboard shows what is coming to the bank account you registered.

## What you get

- Unified payments, online and on site: Apple Pay, Google Pay and card on the branded checkout and on self-serve kiosks, and card-present payments on terminals registered against your venue. One payments list holds all of them.
- Terminals with status polling: Register card terminals per venue. From an order, staff take payment on a terminal; the dashboard polls the payment status until it confirms and the order shows as paid, so nobody is guessing whether the tap went through.
- One order record for everything: Tickets, membership payments, locker hire and kiosk sales land on the same order and payments lists, with guest details, so a guest who booked a session, hired skates and took a locker is one order, not three.
- Refunds and partial cancellations: Refund a whole order, or cancel some of the tickets on it and leave the rest standing. Apply or remove a discount on an existing order, reissue tickets and resend the confirmation by email or SMS.
- Payouts after verification: Merchant verification (KYC) runs before a venue takes live payments and receives payouts. Once complete, you add bank details and the payouts dashboard shows what has been paid out and what is due.
- Reports for finance: Sales reports by basket, a VAT report, year-on-year comparison and daily capacity, with orders exported when the accountant wants the raw lines. The Accountant role covers payments, payouts, subscriptions and refunds.

## Outcomes

- One list, not five: Online ticket sales, membership payments, kiosk sales and locker hire sit in one payments list and one set of reports, so month end is one export from one place.
- Payments traced to a guest: Every order carries guest details, and a member's payments sit on their record, so a refund, a reissue or a question about an outstanding balance starts from the person rather than a card number.
- Card data you never hold: Card payments run through a PCI DSS Level 1 acquiring partner, so card data never touches your tills, kiosks or lockers. Your obligations under PCI DSS remain yours; what changes is where card data goes.

## The checkout, the kiosk and the terminal write to the same book

A payments provider that only sees the terminal, and a ticketing system that only sees the checkout, cannot tell you what one order was. VenueOra sells the ticket, takes the payment online, on the kiosk or on the terminal, and refunds it from the same order, so the payments list, the reports and the payouts dashboard describe the same money.

- Tickets, plans and lockers together: A ticket bought online, a membership payment made from the member account and a locker hired at the kiosk are lines in one payments list, not three exports to be matched later.
- Posso tills, VenueOra processing: ePOS tills, self-ordering kiosks and card machines for food and drink are supplied, installed and supported by Posso, our hardware and installation partner. VenueOra processes card payments on the Posso platform; the till itself is a separate system.
- Lockers on VenueOra's engine: LockVault, our smart-locker service, runs on VenueOra's locker management, so a locker hired from the door or the kiosk, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, is an order like any other.

## Questions

Q: What does unified payments for venues mean?
A: It means one place to take and see every payment: Apple Pay, Google Pay and card on your branded checkout and on self-serve kiosks, card-present payments on card terminals registered against your venue, and tickets, membership payments, locker hire and kiosk sales on one order record with the guest's details. Refunds, partial cancellations, reports and payouts work from that same record. Card payments run through a PCI DSS Level 1 acquiring partner.

Q: How do I take a card payment at the door or the desk?
A: From the order. Register your card terminals against the venue, then on any order choose to take payment on a terminal. The guest taps or inserts their card, the dashboard polls the payment status until it confirms, and the order is marked paid. Staff can also mark an order paid by hand where you have taken the money another way. On a self-serve kiosk, guests pay by Apple Pay, Google Pay or card-present without a member of staff.

Q: Does using VenueOra make my venue PCI DSS compliant?
A: No software makes a venue compliant on its own, so we describe what ours does. Card payments across the group run through a PCI DSS Level 1 acquiring partner, and card data never touches your tills, kiosks or lockers or VenueOra-hosted code. Your obligations under PCI DSS remain your own. Our compliance page sets out how card data, personal data and age checks are handled across our products, and it is not legal advice.

Q: What are the payment rates?
A: Card processing and terminal rates are quoted with your plan; we do not publish them here. The platform plans are published: the Free plan has no monthly fee and charges £1.50 per ticket sold, and the Venue plan is £150 a month and 80p per ticket sold. Tell us your card volume and the mix of online, kiosk and terminal payments through the request form on the pricing page and we will quote.

Q: Which hardware takes the payments on site?
A: Two kinds. Self-serve kiosks and card terminals running VenueOra, registered against your venue, sell tickets, take payments and check guests in, and pair RFID wristbands where you use them. ePOS tills, self-ordering kiosks for food and drink, kitchen display and card machines are supplied, installed, trained and supported by Posso, our hardware and installation partner, with VenueOra processing card payments on the Posso platform. The tills are a separate system; their sales do not appear in VenueOra reports.

Q: Can I see online and on-site sales together?
A: Yes. The payments list and the orders list hold online checkout, kiosk and terminal payments together, and the sales, VAT, year-on-year and daily capacity reports read from the same data. Export orders when you want the lines in a spreadsheet. What you will not see inside VenueOra is bar and food revenue from Posso tills, because the till is a separate system; VenueOra processes those card payments but does not report the till's sales.
