Smart lockers

Lockers arrive on a lorry, run within hours and pay you monthly

LockVault, our smart-locker service, deploys smart lockers for venues across the UK at no upfront cost. Festivals, theme parks, waterparks and gyms give us a pitch and footfall; we fund, install, run and maintain the lockers, which run on VenueOra's own Locker Management module.

Step by step

How it works

  1. 1

    Enquire and get a proposal

Tell us the site, the footfall and the dates. We send a proposal within 48 hours of an enquiry. Revenue figures are estimates from footfall and typical conversion; the final split and forecast come from a site survey.

  2. 2

    Site survey fixes the split

A site survey confirms where the lockers stand, how many you need and the share of rental revenue the venue receives. There is no price list; the split is agreed after the survey and written into the proposal.

  3. 3

    Lockers arrive and run

Container hubs of up to 180 lockers arrive on a lorry and run within hours. Fitted banks of 24 to 240 lockers go where you want them. Solar, battery and Starlink mean most sites need no mains or Wi-Fi.

  4. 4

    Paid by the 15th

You receive an itemised statement on the 1st of each month and the payout by the 15th. Pricing is reviewed annually. LockVault handles support, refunds, maintenance, software updates and insurance throughout.

What you get

Smart lockers for UK venues

Fitted locker banks of 24 to 240 lockers, shipping-container hubs of up to 180, and parcel and click-and-collect lockers for apartment buildings and shopping centres. Four sizes: mini, small, medium and large.

Self-powered and Starlink-connected

A solar roof and on-board battery power the bank, and Starlink carries the data, so most sites need no mains power or Wi-Fi from the venue. A field, a car park or a concourse will do.

Charging lockers

Charging variants with USB-C, USB-A and Qi wireless pads, so an attendee's phone charges while their bag is safe. Sealed doors rated for splash zones, with an electromagnetic latch in a reinforced steel door.

Hire in under 30 seconds

Guests hire at a touchscreen kiosk by tapping a card, or pre-book by phone and open with a QR code on arrival. Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with optional cashless wristband integration.

Locker management in VenueOra

LockVault hardware runs on VenueOra's Locker Management module: inventory by colour, side and number, categories, and a locker assigned to a member, guest, ticket or event, released or emergency-unlocked, and marked in or out of service.

PIN, NFC and realtime control

Open by PIN, including a PIN emailed to the guest, or by NFC tag. Doors open and close in realtime through the venue server, usage analytics show which lockers earn, and a locker can be tied to hired skates.

  • A finger selects a skate size on a kiosk check-in screen, with a card terminal mounted beside the screen.
Self-serve check-in on a VenueOra kiosk: pick a skate size and get a locker
  • A kiosk on a stand beside a curling lane with stones and a scoreboard screen, inside a marquee with container walls.

Why no upfront cost

A locker bank should earn for the venue, not cost it

LockVault was born inside VenueOra at festivals. After two seasons of trial deployments with paying customers and repeat bookings it became a service in its own right. The model has not changed: we carry the cost and the risk, and the venue shares the revenue. LockVault now operates at festivals, theme parks, gyms, sports clubs, aquatic centres and casinos.

What LockVault funds

The lockers, the kiosk, the solar and battery power, the Starlink connection, delivery, installation, insurance, maintenance and the people who monitor and support them. Nothing is invoiced to the venue.

What the venue provides

A pitch or floor space with footfall, and a conversation about where guests arrive and what they carry. For container hubs, access for a lorry. For fitted banks, a wall or a corridor.

How the guest opens it

A tap of a card at the kiosk, a QR code from a phone booking, a PIN sent by email, an NFC tag, or a cashless wristband. Staff can release or emergency-unlock any door from the dashboard.

What the venue receives

A share of gross rental revenue, with the split agreed after a site survey. An itemised statement on the 1st of each month, the payout by the 15th, and an annual pricing review. No percentage is published on this site.

Outcomes

What changes for your venue

01

Revenue without capital

You spend nothing on hardware, power, connectivity or staff and receive a monthly share of what the lockers take. The split is agreed after a site survey and set out in the proposal, not on a price list.

02

Nothing for your team to run

Support, refunds, maintenance, software updates and insurance are LockVault's. Your staff are not handing out keys or taking complaints about a jammed door; the remote operations dashboard sees it first.

03

Lockers tied to the ticket

Because the lockers run on VenueOra's Locker Management module, a locker can be assigned to a member, a guest, a ticket or an event, rented from the door or kiosk, and kept with hired kit for the session.

How we compare

Buying lockers outright and taking them on revenue share are different decisions. This is how the two models compare in what the venue has to do; the buying column describes the market in general, not a quote from any one supplier.

Feature VenueOra Typical set-up
Upfront cost None. LockVault funds the lockers, kiosk, power, connectivity, delivery and installation. Capital purchase of the locker bank, plus installation, power and network works paid by the venue.
Power and connectivity Solar roof, on-board battery and Starlink, so most sites need no mains or Wi-Fi from the venue. Mains power and a network connection run to the bank by the venue's contractors before it can open.
Who maintains the lockers LockVault, monitored 24/7 from a remote operations dashboard, with maintenance, software updates and insurance included. The venue, or a paid maintenance contract, with the venue arranging repairs and insurance.
Who handles guest support LockVault handles support and refunds; your team is not the help desk. Venue staff handle lost items, jammed doors and refunds on the day.
Locker software VenueOra's Locker Management module: assign a locker to a member, ticket or event, PIN by email, NFC tags, emergency-unlock and usage analytics. The manufacturer's own software, with any link to your ticketing as a separate integration project.
Off-season No operating cost to the venue at any point in the year. Container hubs arrive on a lorry and can leave the same way. Owned lockers sit idle, still depreciating and insured, until the next season.

FAQ

Questions venues ask

How much do smart lockers for venues cost in the UK?

Lockers start with a consultation and a site review; there is no price list on this site. On the LockVault model there is no upfront cost and no operating cost to the venue: LockVault funds, installs, powers, connects, runs and maintains the lockers, the venue provides a pitch or floor space and footfall, and the venue receives a share of gross rental revenue agreed after the site survey. LockVault comes back with a proposal within 48 hours of an enquiry.

Can we hire festival lockers in the UK for a single weekend?

Yes. Shipping-container hubs of up to 180 lockers arrive on a lorry and run within hours, on their own solar and battery power with a Starlink connection, so a field with no mains or Wi-Fi is fine. LockVault started at festivals and ran two seasons of trial deployments with paying customers before becoming a service in its own right. Attendees hire at the kiosk in under 30 seconds or pre-book by phone and open with a QR code.

How much revenue will the lockers make for our venue?

It depends on footfall, dwell time and the share we agree, so we give you an estimate rather than a promise. We send a proposal within 48 hours of an enquiry, and a container handles 5,000+ rental cycles a day. Revenue figures are estimates from footfall and typical conversion. The final split and forecast come from a site survey. Nothing on this site should be read as a guarantee of revenue or utilisation.

Do charging lockers work for events?

Yes. Charging variants carry USB-C, USB-A and Qi wireless pads, so a phone charges inside the locker while the guest is elsewhere, and the bank itself runs on a solar roof and on-board battery. Guest prices for charging and standard lockers are published on lockerpay.co.uk rather than here, and are agreed with the venue before the lockers open. The venue shares in the rental revenue either way.

Who deals with a guest whose locker will not open?

LockVault does. Every bank is monitored 24/7 from a remote operations dashboard, and LockVault handles support, refunds, maintenance, software updates and insurance. Your staff do not hold keys or process refunds, though the Locker Management module lets a trusted member of staff release or emergency-unlock a door from the dashboard if a guest is standing in front of it. Doors use an electromagnetic latch in a reinforced steel door, and the service runs to a 99.9% uptime service level.

Is revenue share better than buying lockers outright?

For most venues with seasonal or uneven footfall, yes; for a few, no. Buying keeps all the rental revenue but puts the capital, installation, power, maintenance, insurance, staff support and eventual replacement on the venue, and the lockers sit idle off-season. The LockVault model costs nothing upfront and nothing to run, and the venue receives an agreed share. If you have year-round footfall, capital to spare and staff to run support, buying can pay. The comparison on this page sets the two side by side.
